By default, Google Chromecast is a simple HDMI dongle that allows you to stream content from your PC or phone to your HD television.

It hardly has any hardware inside it that could reproduce the graphics of a game like Quake III.

But, when smartphones are easily as powerful as any other computer from the 90s, it is much easier to run games and stream them onto the television screen. During the Google I/O conference that took place recently, the developers showed how one could actually use the game codes and make it run on any Android smartphone. The remote display API makes it possible to stream the visuals on the screen while your phone will be your touch screen controller, using which you can navigate the cursor.

Streaming Games onto TV

With Google Chromecast, the company has succeeded in making movies and music stream on to your televisions without much difficulty. Earlier, it used to be such a tough feature because one has to purchase a Roku box to watch movies or go for a higher priced streaming box that comes with a built-in hard disk. It never allows you to easily stream videos that might be stored on your smartphone or use your PC’s hard disk.

Chromecast changed the game! It is not only small to use but also made it easier for the users to stream anything using their Android phone. If you use the ES file explorer, you can actually cast any content to your Android device and replicate the same on a big screen television. After movies and music, it obviously comes to games, which is what was highlighted during the I/O 2015 conference. A couple of games were showed; most of them small ones, but some classic PC titles were displayed as well to show how good the dongle is.

Video Games List

You can find a video below that shows the list of games available on the platform at the moment. All of them use the API to run on a phone or a tablet. The games are not available on the play store because they are not officially ready yet. However, you can choose to download the source code from the official website and use it to cast the content through your Google Chromecast dongle. There is also a feature that allows you to connect any game pad with the Android device through Bluetooth network to enjoy authentic gaming experience.
