Bethesda has not revealed why the graphical quality of Fallout 4 is so low even on the next gen PS4 and Xbox One consoles.
But, they did outline the reason that a lot of complex game play mechanism has been included into the title which is why they couldn’t push the graphics too much.
If you have been wondering if this is the only reason, you are absolutely wrong. The last game in the Fallout franchise was launched almost seven years ago and the developers probably started working on the next sequel within the next two years or so. The graphical quality in the games were exceptionally low in 2007 or 2008, which is what has played an integral role in making Fallout 4 look so outdated. Even though, Bethesda wouldn’t openly admit it, it is a fact that the game’s development begun a long time ago because of which it doesn’t look as good as the new games.
Gameplay Mechanism
Another important reason, as stated by Bethesda, is that the gameplay mechanism in Fallout 4 is much more complicated than any other title. In most games, if you have noticed, a lot of things in the world will be inaccessible. You won’t be able to interact with doors, pick up objects or break into other rooms. But, in Fallout, everything you think is possible and sometimes there are many things in the world that would simply surprise you.
The producer of the game has already confirmed that he has played over 400 hours into the title. If you assumed he has finished every nook and corner of it, he didn’t. He admitted that he managed to finish only fifty to sixty percent of the game while a lot of activities, side missions and more is pending to be explored. When creating such a huge world, it becomes impossible to increase the graphics to higher levels as no machine would be able to render it, be it a PC or a console, unless you are ready to shell over $2000 to build one.
1080p Resolution and Stable FPS
The developers of Fallout 4, Bethesda have a keen eye on the resolution of the title. They have managed to make it run at full 1080p which is an achievement in itself. It makes textures look better and the game more appealing on the whole. Similarly, 30 FPS has been guaranteed on the PS4 and the Xbox One consoles. A few compromises have been made, but that doesn’t make the new Fallout any less.
